Make a Difference… by Volunteering
We are a busy Parish where God’s family comes together in praise and worship and seeks to use our gifts to serve in the church and community in some way. God has given us all individual gifts, let’s share them in fun and fellowship for the benefit of the Parish. Please look through the list below and ask God where you can use the gifts He has given you for service in this Parish.
Administration: General help is always needed in the Parish Office to enable pew sheets, service sheets and communications of all sorts to be produced. Computer literate people are especially welcome.
Bell Ringers: The ancient tradition of bell-ringing continues to be a feature of our parish church and its witness. Would you like to learn? Experienced ringers and beginners are always welcome.
Children and Youth: Plenty of opportunities are arising in this area to assist our Children’s and Families’ worker. Not just active involvement, but registering and back-room jobs are all important in putting on a great programme for our young church members. Also to help at Holiday Clubs.
Choir: This is an integral part of our church worship. If you are young or not so young, male or female and enjoy singing, do come forward.
Churchyard Teams: Our churchyards need to be places of calm and tranquillity so these teams would look after the gardens and ensure litter is gathered.
Fabric Committee: To keep our buildings in tip-top condition this team seeks to maintain and develop our premises. Practical skills would be very useful in this team.
Flower Teams: Each week our three churches are beautifully decorated by ladies dedicated to flower arranging. Extra hands are always welcome, especially at festive seasons.
Hospitality: Help is always needed with after service refreshments and Fair Trade Coffee Mornings, special services refreshments and cake making.
Home Groups: We want to encourage small group Bible study and home groups and are always looking for more people to host or lead such groups. More members are always welcome to any of the house groups.
Housekeeping Team: To ensure our churches are always clean and welcoming, a team of cleaners is needed. Come and augment those who currently do a fantastic job – many hands make light work!
Lesson Readers: A rota exists for regular Sunday readers and we would welcome an offer from anyone interested in joining a rota. Basic training provided.
Music and Worship Team: Our Foundation Café and Cornerstone Contemporary Services always need more help, especially as these services continue to grow. If you feel this is your gifting, come forward and serve.
Parish Magazine: Our current editor does a fantastic job but could always do with help, so if you are computer literate, or feel that you could administer the advertising, please make contact.
Pastoral Team: All Christians are called to offer pastoral care and concern for others. Often this is in spontaneous situations, but there are also opportunities to organise some of the care we offer as a church. The Pastoral Team provides you with opportunities to serve in wide variety of ways, from giving lifts to services, hospital visiting, home communion and much more.
Prayers and Intercessors Team: Prayer is a very important part of the life of our church and it would be great to have more people involved on a regular basis at our prayer groups (weekly and school) as well as more informal groups. We would also welcome more volunteers on the rotas of those who lead intercessions at our Sunday Services. Training for this would be available.
Publicity and Marketing Team: We are always looking for ways to get our messages across most effectively to the community in a range of ways. We need a team of creative people who can think outside of the box. If you are a more experienced computer operator or web designer, your skills could be very useful.
Sidesmen and Welcomers: No church can function without these important people. If you feel your forte is to meet and greet church members and visitors and make them welcome, this could be a great opportunity to get to know more of the congregation.
Sound and Vision: With all the new technology available to us now, we need a team who can pull together all these facilities for the best use in our services. No experience is needed as you will be trained.
Street Reps Team: this team would be prepared to deliver Parish Magazines and other communications from the churches to their neighbourhood.
Time and Talents Secretary: This new position is needed to co-ordinate the registration of all gifts of time and talents.
Vocation: Your vocation may be as a Lay Reader or in ordained ministry. Please talk to the Vicar to explore your sense of calling and the exciting opportunities that exist for ministry.
World Focus/Charities: We currently support many charities and we would like to set up a team to really make this a focussed operation that all church members know about. If you feel this is your calling, please come forward.
If you are interested in any of the above and would like to offer your talents, please contact the Church Office.
